Night at the movies
Wow, my cool husband
whisked me off to an actual movie theatre tonight. I can’t remember the
last time I saw a first-run movie in a theatre — I am very resolute
these days about waiting for stuff to come out on DVD.It was a fun frolic. Dave is such a superhero fan, and in truth, this
kind of movie is best enjoyed in theatres where the special effects can
be fully appreciated. I know that the critics have given X-Men: The Last Stand a rotten tomato, but hey, it’s just a Marvel comic flick. Get real.

My guys (hubby & 2 sons) saw that in the theater and really enjoyed it. I didn’t want to go because they went opening weekend. I may wait until it comes to the $3 show instead of the $9 show.
It is supposed to be a fun movie. I think the critics forget that not every movie has to be Academy Award winning material for it to be a good movie.
Glad you and your sweet hubby had a fun time at the movies.
The first two movies were well worth watching. Especially the first one. My brother saw the third one and said that while it was good, it was nowhere near as good as the first and second. Ah well, such is the way of superhero sequals.
I’ll be waiting for the dvd
We loved the first two X men movies…and I had never been a superhero fan before! My daughter can’t wait for me to take her to X men 3…she really likes Rogue and Jean Grey. We might go this weekend. :sunny:
I was surprised that I enjoyed the X men film I saw so much. Glad to hear you had a good night out, you deserve it!
I’m going to loook into the global warming thing more.
The important thing is just getting out, glad you had a good time.
I haven’t seen it yet, but intend not to miss it. I love the x-men movies. Excellent entertainment.
I’ve been wanting to see this one, and of course Husband wants to see it more. We were going to last weekend but ended up seeing the new Fast & Furious movie instead. I’ve no regrets.
The critics always seem to want everything perfect, artsy and realistic all at the same time. Pffft! I liked the newest X-Men too. :goodjob:
I haven’t seen it yet! It seems the hero flicks will always get a rotten tomato from somewhere, but it all fun so I agree with the “get real”.
Oh good for you! A date with the hubby is always a treat… I seem to remember.
We all went to see that movie and enjoyed it; thought it was the best of the trilogy.
I, too, wait for the DVD. However, there are just some times that it is more fun to go to the movies…just for the comraderie or the experience. Nothing wrong with the Marvel comics. I also love going to the drive in theater, sitting outside on a blanket and watching the movie under a blanket of stars. Amazing experience. Sounds like a great time.
Thank you for you post on Cancer Girls. I lost my precious sister to ovarian cancer in 1998. She was the oldest of all of us girls and, was very much a mother figure to me as I was 2nd to the youngest. Losing her was one of the single most difficult things I’ve ever had to go through. We were so close that we talked at least 4 times a day. Thank you for posting the Caregiver’s guide. We (all of us girls) took turns caring for her, and of course, I never felt as though I did enough. I realize now (after reading it) that I gave all I was humanly able to give. But she died and I felt a failure anyway because of it. Reading your post helped me so much…I will never be able to thank you enough.
:sunny: Good for you… I cannot remember the last time I went to the movies… I visit Asia a lot…dvd’s are cheap…. LOL… joking… but I do have rather an assortment. I am going to make a point of going these school holidays with the kids! Love… and bigscreens, Denny
I just now saw that you signed my guestbook. Thank you and glad to be here! :goodjob:
Getting out is great fun!
yah, I thought San Francisco was supposed to get destroyed. It was okay! Superman starts- get to see it for free on Saturday if we want on our Navy base. :coolman:
Oh before I forget … answers that don’t involve foul smelling brown, tar-like, product of diaper, substances. My current field of interest is Middle Ages history – somewhere between 1000 and ending around the renaissance / reformation. Given the church wrote in Latin, it’ll make life far easier to read as opposed to spending days translating Innocent III’s Solitae. Eventually I hope to be middle ages prof extrordinaire somewhere … or perhaps a writer of history based Harlequin Romances. And yes, I’m definitely gearing up for the time to get rid of the foul habit yesterday parade. Once life becomes completely stable (ie roommate gone), I’ll be out of excuses so 7/15 is my quit smoking deadline. Best wishes and sorry to abuse your otherwise surprisingly supportive Marmite comment box.
